Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you so much for visiting and supporting my blog! I am a certified nutrition professional with a passion for…wait for it, nutrition! I love to create nourishing dishes that help my family and I feel good from the inside out, and I love even more to share these delicious dishes with others! That’s why I am so thankful you are here. This blog just wouldn’t be the same without readers like you! I’ve had many people ask me the same questions over the years, and I wanted to create a place on the blog with answers to those questions – so here you will find out a little more about me, my job, the blog, and life as a busy mom blogger!

Why did you start this blog? After my youngest was born I decided to take a break from my career in medical device sales to stay at home with my kids. At the time I started the blog (which was under a different name) my direction with it was totally different! The more time I spent blogging and on social media the more clarity I had and the blog evolved into my passion for sharing healthy meal ideas with other busy families!
What is your mission for the blog? As a nutrition expert, my goal is to combine the science of nutrition with the art of healthy living in an easy and straightforward way that is delicious and practical for busy families. There are so many different diets and opinions out there that it can be so overwhelming to know how to feed our families delicious meals fast. My goal is to simplify whole food meals as much as possible by sharing recipes that are healthy with an explanation as to why they are healthy, and what benefits they provide! I know parenting is a lot of work and mealtime shouldn’t be a burden. I have walked so many different stages of motherhood (you can read My Story for more on that!) and I realize the time challenges many families face when it comes to nutrition. My mission is also to inspire busy parents to get into their kitchens and cook feel-good food! The kind of food that the whole family can eat but helps parents stay healthy and in shape too. I have seen so many parents meal prep for themselves while their kids eat mac and cheese every night and it is truly possible to kill two birds with one stone and make one nutritious meal that everyone can eat! I also love helping families raise healthy and happy eaters (YES, even picky ones)!
What is your food philosophy? That is a great question! I believe that there is healing power in food and 70% of our immune system is housed in our gut. I know what we eat absolutely affects our mood, health, and overall happiness. My recipes focus on eating whole food meals that require minimal amounts of ingredients, little prep work, and basic cooking skills. I want busy families to know that good food doesn’t need to be difficult or lacking in flavor! You will find a mix of cooking styles from vegan to paleo, to Whole30, and everything in between with the occasional indulgence here and there. I want to help busy families create sustainable healthy eating habits that are BOTH balanced and enjoyable! I love to help busy moms and dads experience freedom the food and find an enjoyable, non-restrictive, and attainable way of eating that helps the whole family get the best nutrition while building a great relationship with food.
Do you make the meals you post on the blog? Of course! In fact, all the recipes I post are tried and true recipes from my kitchen and meals I feed my family. Sometimes I stumble on a great recipe of ingredients I throw together in a rush and have to stop and backtrack. If a recipe is nutritious, delicious, and can be made quickly, surely there are other families out there that can benefit from it too!
Do you follow a particular diet? Nope! I stick to whole food ingredients and feel-good food that packs a nutritional punch! After my kids started to complain of stomach aches often I was able to trace it back to dairy and we have since reduced our dairy consumption significantly.
What if my kids are super picky? Oh friends. I feel you and I know exactly how you feel! Cooking for an adult son, two toddlers and a picky (he prefers “selective”) husband has helped me learn a few tips and tricks when it comes to picky eaters and pleasing everybody. I refuse to cook separate meals for everybody and I’m always happy to share my tips and a few strategies for picky eaters!
What if my kid has a food allergy? Oh Mama! I feel you! Boy do I ever. I will never forget the day my Levi broke out in full body hives after having blueberries for the first time. I was so freaked out! We took him to the children’s hospital and I will never forget what the doctor said to me that day. He said “Your son has eczema and just had an allergic reaction to blueberries He is GOING to have food allergies!” A month later we found out he had a peanut allergy. We were referred to a specialist who encouraged us to try immunotherapy and we were so scared about it! My youngest was also tested and although she tested negative she developed hives after having peanut butter in the doctors office one day. So, I have plenty of experience with allergies. Most recipes can be substituted out for another nut or seed butter depending on the allergy. If you have any specific questions please feel free to reach out!
What do you do in your spare time? I love to spend time with my family, read, go to the cottage in the summer and travel someplace warm in the winter! I’m thankful to live close to my family and spend a lot of time with them! There is nothing better than watching my kids spend time with their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins!
