Fresh healthy homemade Greek tzatziki has got to be one of the best additions to any meal! My kids love it on practically everything and this fresh healthy homemade tzatziki recipe is delicious and easy to make!
Fresh healthy homemade tzatziki is one condiment we always have around our house. It is packed with protein and great flavor so it is my number one choice if my kids are asking for “dip” with their meal. It is a great alternative to sugary condiments that don’t have a ton of nutritional value.
The possibilities are endless with tzatziki too which is another reason why I love how versatile it is. We can have it with chicken one night, pitas the next and as a snack with fresh veggies and roasted potatoes. Seriously, have you ever made some oven roasted potatoes and dipped them in tzatziki?? It’s heaven on earth!
Up the nutrition factor in your tzatziki
I like to up the nutrition factor by using Icelandic SKYR yogurt as it has higher protein content than Greek yogurt but feel free to use what you have on hand. I also like to grate the cucumber on the fine side of the grater. It is easier to squeeze out more liquid when it is grated finer in my opinion.

This fresh healthy homemade greek tzatziki is great on top of chicken, in pitas, or as a dip for veggies! It is so versatile we almost always have a batch of it in our fridge to give our dinners and lunches a little boost! And like many kids, my kids love to dip, but instead of buying store-bought varieties, homemade always tastes better!
Dill happens to be my favorite herb ever and I am always adding it to my recipes. This homemade tzatziki took it up a notch with the amazing taste of dill! You can omit if you want too but it adds such a great flavor, once you try it you won’t want to go without!
