If you have been following me for some time you know how much I love to cook! Almost as much as I love to eat! Haha! And as much as I love to cook, it goes without saying that sometimes planning out meals each week can feel a bit repetitive and boring. I have found the perfect resource for making Family Friendly Meal Planning a breeze!
New Year, New Easier Routines
This year I am committing to help my whole family eat well and live better! I believe the secret to making it work is to plan ahead and I have been using Healthy Meal Plans to create healthy, delicious and family friendly meal plans that even include a grocery list! Not only has meal planning become easier, but my time planning meals has been cut way down, along with my stress levels. BONUS!
Let me tell you a bit about how I have been using Healthy Meal Plans each week. First, I select a time to meal plan for the week, which for me is Sunday Morning. I sit down at the computer and head to healthymealplans.com and login to my account. From there, I start browsing through free recipes to get an idea of which recipes and snacks I want to make that week. I don’t typically plan out breakfast or lunch because we tend to eat similar things week to week, but by browsing through recipes I have found some great new ideas for lunches and snacks and we have definitely added some new family favourites to our routine!
Over 1,000 Original Recipes
When I find a recipe I like I click on it to look at the ingredients and directions. There is an option to edit the serving size so I add in the appropriate size for our family then I “favourite” the recipe by clicking on the heart. I then drag and drop the the recipe into the weekly planner and continue adding meals and snacks as I come across items I like!
Dietitian Designed Meal Plans
Another really great feature that Healthy Meal Plans offers to make meal planning even easier is the offer to purchase the Specialty Meal Plans which are designed by their in-house dietitian and nutritionally balanced. There are so many affordable options and you can narrow your options down by dietary preference. For example, there are Vegetarian, Vegan, Pescatarian, Gluten-Free, and Low-Carb options available! This is one of my favourite features and makes Healthy Meal Plans an easy choice to meet the dietary needs of my whole family.
I chose the 12 week Healthy Meal Plan that is packed with full days worth of healthy meals and snacks! I also opted for the 4 week vegetarian meal plan which has been instrumental in meeting my family goal of incorporating more plant based meals into our diet.
Grocery List In One Click
Where I struggle in my meal planning is finding new healthy recipes and making sure I have everything on hand for the week. With little kids at home I don’t enjoy those multiple extra trips to the grocery store, which is a time consuming and a surefire way to blow your grocery budget!
Another great feature whether I use the Specialty Meal Plan or create my own custom plan for the week, is the ability to make a grocery list for all the recipes (including serving size) right in the same spot! There is even a feature to email the grocery list to my husband to pick up on the way home! No more buying doubles because you forget what’s in the pantry, no more forgetting items and there is even a spot
Helping Busy Families Eat Better
There are times I’ve been searching websites or apps for new recipes and add words like “healthy meal ideas” to my search, only to be offered a bunch of unhealthy meal options that I waste time having to filter through. With Healthy Meal Plans I do not have to worry about wasting my time trying to find recipes that are healthy for my family, there are dozens of great options available in one spot!
There were definitely a few new favourites that I found and am excited to keep making! My whole family loved the Chicken Souvlaki Pitas, and the Pesto Chicken Quesadillas were a hit! The Blackened Salmon with Cucumber and Avocado Salsa and Chocolate Power Butter Smoothies are some of my favourites. The Trail Mix Cookies and Low Carb Cheddar Bay Biscuits were a hit with even my “selective” (aka. picky) eaters, my husband Mikel and my Father-In-Law! Haha.
